Cherryville, NC (WNN) - Past years have seen the stage sit empty for much of the second day of the Cherry Blossom Festival, but now a new event looks to change that in 2026. It looks to bring forth some of Cherryville’s musical talent with the 1st Annual Cherry Jam. This is a singing competition that will be decided on stage on April 25th, with the winner taking home $500.00. However, the selection process will be determined via auditions.
There will be three rounds of live auditions hosted locally at the Cherry Pit Bar and Grill. The first round will be held tonight, March 12th, 2026, starting at 6 PM. There will also be two more chances to join the auditions on March 26th and April 9th, at the same starting time. However, those who cannot attend may submit an audition via video by filling out the form here and returning it to Emily Dellinger at edellinger@cityofcherryville.com. Those under 18 will require parental consent, and before you audition, you should check the full ruleset here.
Fifteen to twenty contestants will be chosen from the audition pool to show up and sing live on stage during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The day will consist of two rounds, with the first being a standard, choose-your-song-and-perform-the-best-you-can competition. The judges will determine which five contestants go on to the final round, and this is where we’ll see whose got the widest vocal range. Dubbed “Karaoke Roulette,” the second round will see finalists given a random hit, such as Don’t Stop Believin’ or Dancing Queen, and sent on stage to perform. From this, a winner will be selected, with the top three spots receiving cash prizes. First place will win $500, second place will take home $300, and third place will walk away with $200.
April 24th and 25th will see many of the expected events return. Friday night attendees can join the Miss Cherry Blossom Pageant, or head to the stage to see The Tonez and DJ Johnny B perform. Outside of the singing competition, Saturday will host the anticipated Antique Car Show put on by the Grier Beam Truck Museum Staff. Each day will have plenty of vendors, food, and games for the kids, just like regular attendees have come to expect.
