BEAUFORT, NC – Gaston County Communications Director Adam Gaub was named the 12th president of the North Carolina City & County Communicators organization on Friday, succeeding Salisbury’s Kaisha Brown in that role.

Gaub began his service on the board in 2021 as Marketing & Membership Chair, and has also previously served as Secretary, Vice President and President-Elect. Gaub was named to the president’s role during the organization’s annual meeting during its annual conference, held this year in Beaufort, NC.

Gaston County also was among a record 39 North Carolina jurisdictions to earn recognition in the North Carolina City & County Communicators (NC3C) 2026 Excellence in Communications Awards. Gaston County was recognized with a third-place award in the large population division of the Social Media – Single Post category, for its work on a memorial video of the processional of fallen paramedic Mary Jolly.

The awards were announced during the annual conference on April 9. A record-setting 266 award program entries were judged by professional communications peers from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators.

It was the sixth consecutive year Gaston County earned an Excellence in Communications award, after never winning one prior to 2021.
