MAN KILLED IN MOBILE HOME FIRE NEAR DALLAS

DALLAS, N.C. – A mobile home fire Wednesday morning led to the death of a local man and injuries for two firefighters who had pulled the man from the blaze.

Multiple Gaston County fire departments responded to the call shortly after 8 am in the 800 block of Lynn Drive near Dallas. Firefighters rescued a man from the burning home, but despite lifesaving efforts from GEMS paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two firefighters were treated at the scene for burns and other minor injuries. Firefighters had the fire under control within five minutes of arrival.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Gaston County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Services determined the cause of the fire to be combustible materials that were stored next to a heating source.
