Suspect Taken Into Custody Over Bomb Threat At Gastonia Memorial Hospital

Gastonia, NC (WNN) - On July 19, 2026, at around 11:24 PM, the Gastonia Police Department responded to a call at the Gastonia Memorial Hospital.  The hospital was forced to go into lockdown after a suspicious package was found in the yellow parking deck at the complex. The bomb squad arrived on the scene to investigate the possible threat.  Officers took Konstaninos Demetrios Papzoglou into custody in relation to the incident.  He was charged with prep hoax nuc/bio/chem weapon, obstruction of a healthcare facility, and other- free text.  This means it was ultimately determined to be a false threat.
