Posted

Cherryville, NC (WNN) - The spotlight shone bright at Starnes Auditorium on Saturday, March 28, 2026, as students took the stage for the annual Miss CHS Scholarship Pageant. Students competed for titles that celebrate leadership, personality, and dedication to their school.

This year's pageant featured 17 contestants across multiple titles:

The afternoon began with a welcome from reigning titleholders, 2025 Teen Miss CHS Bell Thornburg and 2025 Miss CHS Carson Reed. They introduced everyone to the event and to the panel of judges: Todd Hagans, Scott Cassell, Beverly Tribble, and Camryn Helms.

The competition was divided into three segments: Casual Wear, Formal Wear, and On-Stage Questions for senior contestants. The show opened with a choreographed number in which contestants introduced themselves to the judges and audience.

Casual Wear

During the Casual Wear portion, contestants dressed in their best daily wear and showcased their personalities as they walked the stage to upbeat, popular music.

Formal Wear

Following a brief intermission, the Formal Wear segment highlighted the contestants' best dressed. All contestants were escorted on stage by Steven Wyatt, Gabriel McSwain, and Kaleb Pendleton. Each girl walked a figure-eight pattern while a biography was read aloud, detailing their school involvement, interests, and hobbies.

On-Stage Questions

The final and most challenging portion of the pageant, the On-Stage Questions, was reserved for senior contestants. Participants answered random questions ranging from perspectives on social media in schools to their motivations for earning the Miss CHS Scholar title.

Voting and Crowning

Throughout the afternoon, audience members were encouraged to "vote" for their favorite contestant by placing donations into designated jars labeled with the contestant's number. The title of Miss CHS Scholar will be awarded with a $1,000 scholarship, with proceeds from the event supporting both the scholarship fund and the CHS Cheerleading program, which sponsored the event.

The 2025 Miss Scholar, Ava Miller, returned to crown this year's winners:

  • Teen Miss CHS: Grayce Pruitt
  • Miss CHS: Cameryn Bell
  • Miss CHS Scholar: Kate Bookout
