Cherryville, NC (WNN)— The Cages, a new indoor batting and training facility, held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 21st 2025. The owners, Brandi and David Wyant, spoke about their mission, which goes beyond sports. The facility is located at 7437 Dallas Cherryville Highway.

City manager Brian Dalton spoke on behalf of the mayor and city council. He mentioned his excitement for new businesses in Cherryville. He recalled getting a phone call "several months back" about the plan for an indoor facility where people could practice batting, learn to pitch, and lift weights. Dalton praised the work that has been done and offered the city's support, telling the owners, "If there's anything you ever need, call us at City Hall".

Family Focus on Athletics and Character

Brandi Wyant, one of the owners, introduced her family, who are at the heart of the business. Her husband, David, was there along with their children: daughter Lucy, a high school senior and a cheerleader, and sons Mason and Brantley, who are in eighth and sixth grade and are both baseball players.

Having spent a lot of time on the baseball field, Wyant mentioned that the family believed this would be a great opportunity for their kids, their friends, and the community as a whole. She says that while not every child will become a professional athlete, they are "going to be productive members of society" and contribute to the community.

Wyant explained that her family's mission is not only to promote softball skills but also "just being good people." She emphasized the family's Christian faith, saying, "We want to make sure that that is our mission, that we are being a good example to these children, and they're going to leave us as better people and better members that are ready to go out and to contribute to our community."

Their core mission is inspired by Galatians 6:9-10: "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."
