18 Year Old Charged after Crashing Car into Eastridge Mall

Gastonia, NC (WNN) - On Thursday, January 15th, 2026, a driver crashed his car into a Bargain Max supermarket at Eastridge Mall in Gastonia, NC.

What Happened

According to the Gastonia Police Department,  a man had an altercation with employees and customers after he tried to remove the gold-plated “Sears” sign near the door. After leaving, he returned, making threats, and rammed his car through the front doors of Bargain Max. 

Store employees say the store will be closed today and likely tomorrow.

Identity of the Suspect

The suspect has since been identified as 18-year-old Jack Boone. He was taken into custody and charged. His charges include resisting a public officer resulting in serious injury, numerous counts of assault with a deadly weapon, injury to real property, tampering with a vehicle, communicating threats, and reckless driving to endanger others.
