Cherryville, NC (WNN) - After a full day of snowfall, the Cherryville area was left with between eight and twelve inches of snow. This didn't stop the locals from traveling; local grocery stores saw just as many visitors as usual, and curious people were out to see the town.
Local landmarks such as the New Year's Shooter Memorial and the J. Ralph Beam Jr. Heritage Park were left mostly undisturbed, leaving many quaint scenes around the city.
While many grocery stores remain open or are operating in part, most public departments will be closed due to the storm. Local restaurants and fast food remained closed for the time being. Gaston County Schools will be fully closed for teachers and staff. Cherryville City Hall will also be closed, as will other county government bodies. Trash pickup is expected to be delayed by 1 day in Cherryville.
After a quick look from above, the main roads in Cherryville, NC, are fairly passable. With the temperature slightly above freezing on Sunday afternoon, February 1, 2026, the area has cleared out. Areas in the shade still have ice even after scraping, so be careful, as temperatures are expected to drop quickly below freezing after dark. This will be at its lowest around 4 AM, with area temperatures expected to be in the single digits. However, Monday afternoon is expected to rise above freezing, which should see more of the snow clear.
