Cherryville, NC (WNN) - Imagine you and your friends are set up to head out to the green and spend a day golfing. However, on your perfectly planned day, where the stars aligned and for the first time in months, everyone is off work and ready to go, the clouds rumble. Your hopes are doused with the downpour, and now everyone has to spend a boring day inside. Maybe inside doesn’t have to be boring, with Cherryville’s most recent indoor sporting attraction inside Monkey Business on Main Street.
Co-owners and brothers Jas Taylor and Dustin Scoggin opened up the back half of their shop to the public on March 1, 2026, with the Mad Monkey Sim Golf experience. Within this rentable lounge, you can find a Rapsodo launch monitor that helps make the experience just like real life. This reads your swings and the ball speed in conjunction with a special dotted golf ball for spin monitoring. This helps keep track of all your stats and dial in your swing. The system also tracks metrics such as clubhead speed and, of course, your stats throughout your chosen course. However, the brothers eagerly anticipate installing Rapsodos' upcoming overhead monitor. This will add putting to the system and allow any golf ball to be used, so you can use every bit of equipment from the course.
This isn’t the only benefit of the Mad Monkey Sim Golf setup. The setup is BYOB, so you can bring your own food and drinks while golfing with your friends and family. Scoggin said you can bring your own beer as well, but asks customers to clean up after themselves. If you didn’t bring anything, two of Cherryville Main Street's eateries will deliver. You can sit back and grab food from either Mr. Chile (menu here) or The Five Spur Steakhouse while you play.
The simulated golf experience offers over 30,000 courses, ranging from PGA and TGL courses to those more suited to younger family members. These easy and fun courses have kid-friendly themes such as golfing on the moon, in Candy Land, or even Jurassic Park. If you don’t have clubs or want to try something a little different, the brothers have provided some for use in the lounge. Of course, the brothers have also provided a specialized ball to track spin speed. Otherwise, the back of the lounge features couches for relaxing, so you can sit back and heckle your friends about their latest water hazard. While it currently features only one room, the brothers hope to expand to multiple setups so more groups can play at once.
