Lindsay Gullatte-Lee, a local Cervical Cancer survivor and founder of the nonprofit "Get In Good With Your Health," received the proclamation. Lee received a stage 3C cervical cancer diagnosis in November 2022. She went through 45 rounds of external radiation, 6 rounds of chemotherapy, and 5 rounds of Internal radiation therapy.  Doctors declared her cancer-free in April 2023.

A Mission to Prevent

After recovering, she has focused her life on raising awareness. Her goal is to share her message throughout all 50 states. So far, she has traveled to five states.

"Cervical cancer was never supposed to be a part of my story, but since it is, I have become an advocate ever since," Lee told the board. "I want the next generation to not have to go through what I went through."

Lee mentioned that cervical cancer is preventable through regular screenings and the HPV vaccine, which she noted is available for both girls and boys as young as age nine.  Anyone can get the vaccine at their doctor's office, local pharmacies (such as CVS, Walgreens), community health clinics, and health departments.

The Road Ahead

The proclamation explains that cervical cancer can be treated if detected early through regular screenings and follow-up care. It urges everyone in Cleveland County to support women by promoting routine check-ups and vaccinations.
