Inmate Escapes Lincoln County Correctional Facility

(GASTON COUNTY, NC) - North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections and several law enforcement agencies are searching for 42-year-old Roy W Burgess, Jr. who escaped Sunday afternoon from the Lincoln Correctional Center in Lincolnton.
 
Burgess is believed to be in the Dallas or Gastonia area of Gaston County and may be seeking help from friends or relatives.
 
Burgess is 5 feet 11 inches tall with brown hair, blue eyes, a beard and weighs about 180 pounds. He has the letters BNG tattooed on his neck, along with other tattoos on his hands and arms. He may be bleeding from cuts to his body.
 
Anyone who has seen Burgess or has information on his whereabouts should call 911 or the Lincoln Correctional Center at 704-735-0485.
 
Editor's Update: According the Lincoln County Sheriff, Bill Beam, "The escaped inmate from the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction prison camp Lincoln has been arrested in South Carolina."
