Kings Mountain, NC (WNN) - Kings Mountain High School announced on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, that the school received a bomb threat in the afternoon.
The following statement was released by Kings Mountain High School:
"Mountaineer Families - We wanted to let you know that Kings Mountain High School received a bomb threat this afternoon. As a result, we have evacuated the school. Law enforcement is involved and on site. Please know that this may cause afternoon dismissal to be delayed. We will keep you informed as additional information is received."

WNN will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
"Mountaineer Families - As you are aware, Kings Mountain High School had a bomb threat this afternoon, which led to the school being evacuated. Law enforcement and school officials responded immediately. A thorough search of the campus was conducted and law enforcement authorities confirmed the report was a false alarm, and the building has been cleared. We will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow. Please be assured that the safety and well-being of your children is our utmost priority. We are proud of the way our teachers, students, and staff responded to the situation.
We greatly appreciate the swift response of local law enforcement and the cooperation of students, teachers, staff, and families while officials worked to ensure the campus was safe. While these situations can be unsettling, our KMHS family worked together to make sure everyone was safe. Thank you for your continued support."
