Cherryville, NC (WNN)—Opening night at the Five Spur Steakhouse in Cherryville, NC, on October 2nd, 2025, ended with one arrest. Jimmy Lee Rojo of Cherryville was arrested for an incident shortly before 10 PM. Police reports state that a Shelby, NC, man was the victim in the altercation. Rojo's charges include assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats. No injuries were reported. He was released on a $50,000 bond.
Meanwhile, in another police report, ten people have been arrested after a three-day sting operation ending October 9th, 2025. "Operation Catawba Net" was held by multiple law enforcement agencies and led by the Catawba County Sheriff's Office. The child sex crime sting operation was to seek out child sex predators where the predators unknowingly chatted on social media with undercover officers. Undercover officers went online posing as underage children or as parents who were willing to sell their children for sexual access. Some suspects went to the setup sting home to meet the arranged sexual setup, where they were arrested. One of the 10 arrested was Kim Harris, 70, of Linconton, NC, who works at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cherryville, NC, and is listed as the Director of Music. Also on the site, it was noted that Harris instructed the church's children in song and bells.
